& Junia Imel

Are you feeling connected to who you are? To your roots and ancestors? To your intuition and internal guidance system? Are you being called to deepen your connection to yourself and the Universe?

In the early 2000s, I was caught up in the chaos of life and felt lost and disconnected from myself and my tribe. Why was I here? I knew there had to be a greater purpose for me than to aimlessly go through life. Does that sound familiar? As I worked to reconnect to my intuition, I was guided to do a solo journey to Peru. Crazy, right?! Well, it took me some time to summon my courage, break through my fears and follow the call, but it was the best and most transformational decision I have ever made in my life!

Dr Patty Luckenbach joined me in 2011 for her own personal transformational journey. It was so good that she has continued to join me every couple of years to share our love and joy of Peru with others. We have found traveling with like-minded people has enhanced our journey beyond measure. So, won’t you join us for the Connecting to Cosmic Wisdom in Mystical Peru tour August 23-September 6, 2020?

ARRIVE IN LIMA

Today we arrive in Lima, spending the night in a hotel near the Pacific Ocean in the beautiful Miraflores area to prepare for our morning flight to Juliaca. Most flights arrive late at night, so this sleep night might feel rather short. Before you go to sleep, set an intention to ‘sleep fast and well, waking refreshed and energized’! If you’d like to arrive a day earlier to have time to rest and enjoy Miraflores, let us know. That can easily be arranged!

Overnight in Lima. (No Meals)

Monday, August 24
MIRAFLORES to CHUCUITO

This morning, we fly to Juliaca and are transferred to Chucuito on the shores of Lake Titicaca! We take some time to adjust to the altitude and prepare for our adventure at this sacred lake.

With an elevation of 12,500 feet, Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world straddling the border of Peru and Bolivia. And according to Inkan lore, it is the birthplace of the Inkas, whose spirits return to their origin in the Lake upon death. Is your soul feeling their call? Are you ready for their wisdom?

After a little rest, we gather for our opening ceremony to connect with the Spirits of the Land and receive their blessings for a spectacular journey!

Overnight in Chucuito (near Puno) at the Taypikala Lago Hotel. (B, Light D)

Tuesday, August 25
ALTARS OF THE LIGHT OF INKA CAMAÑA

This, being our first morning at the sacred Lake Titicaca, is a time to relax into the powerful energy and light. You might be drawn to get up early and receive the first light of day as the sun rises reflecting its magic across the lake or perhaps to sleep in a bit to continue to acclimate. This is a time to listen to our bodies!

Later, we venture to a really off-the-beaten path place to the Altars of Light of Inka Camaña. The locals, Children of the Light, know that this is the place that the Inkas celebrate the light of day and the sacred Lake. These altars face the sunrise and between the sunrise and the altars sits the sacred Lake. We celebrate our arrival to this blessed land with a very special weavings blessing ceremony!!

Wednesday, August 26
ANCIENT CROP CIRCLES & ARAMU MURU PORTAL (WILLKA UTA)

As the sun comes full circle, we greet Father Sun with a special ceremony. Using the powers of the Mother Earth and the Sacred Mountains, we connect to our inner wisdom and listen for the great message within each of us that helps us shine our own personal light - to be of service; to help the planet and its people to heal. It is time we resolve any fears we have within and awaken fully to our inner wisdom and unique purpose.

After receiving the ‘first light’ of day in our hearts, we are on our way to the Pre-Inka Crop Circles and the Aramu Muru Portal. The Pre-Inka Crop Circles possibly were created due to an ancient agricultural process called Waru Warn (in Quechua). Channels of water were dug around three sides of a land mass upon which crops were grown. These Waru Warus were built to capture the sun’s rays and the water of the Lake to keep the plants warm and irrigated. To awakened souls, though, we see the sacred geometry design – the ‘eye of the Mother’ open to the Cosmos always transmitting the sacred Rays of light. As with everything in Peru, there are many aspects to every holy place!

The Aramu Muru Portal, also known as Alayu Marka or Willka Uta, is the house of the ancient Spirits and Masters. It is the dimensional doorway of the Ancient Ones. After paying tribute to the Puma and walking along the great Serpent’s back, we make our way to the Condor at the Aramu Muru Doorway.

This gateway was not known for many years until Jorge saw it in a dream. He went to his elders who told him he had a sacred responsibility to re-discover this place...and so he did! We have a special ceremony to help us connect with the vortex energy and venture through the portal to other dimensions and worlds.

CONIMA & SOTO ISLAND

No trip is complete without experiencing some time gliding across the magical waters of Lake Titicaca, so today we set out for the Conima district on the opposite side of the lake. It is called the "Eternal spring" of the Puno region; for throughout the year its fields are green and adorned with flowers due to its warm climate and thermoregulatory effect of the lake. Roses, geraniums, lilies, carnations, cantutas (sacred flower of the Inkas) and dahlias greet us with their delicate beauty and sensual fragrancies. The views of unique landscapes in this part of the lake take our breath away! Are we really on a lake or have we been transported to the vast ocean?

Our destination is Soto Island - very special place as it is the highest island of the lake and FEW tourists ever see it! It is surrounded by cold water at 280 m (~ 900 feet) depth and has pure, clear energy. These crystalline waters bring clarity and transparency to our lives. The luminosity of the area is stunning!

This island is reputed to be a very special ceremonial center among the Aymara population. Pachamama and Mama Cocha have created a natural sanctuary for our ceremonies! And, we are spending the night with some of these lovely locals, so we are immersed in this ancient energy!

In other nearby places, there is a Pre-Inka town of ‘small’ people where Lemurian Masters taught. As the legend says, when Wiracocha passed by, he transformed the towns people into ‘giant’ people who later on helped him build Tiwanaku in Bolivia. There are some Tiwanaku sculptures in the area that might give some credibility to the legend! Perhaps we’ll get an opportunity to sense this and be transported back in time to the days of Tiwanaku!

Friday, August 28
TAQUILE & UROS

After bidding goodbye to our new friends of Soto Island, we return to Puno via the Island of Taquile and the Uros. The Island of Taquile is the place of the retreat of the Solar Disc. It has several Inka ruins as well as a unique lifestyle. They run their society based on community collectivism and on the Inka moral code of ama sua, ama llulla, and ama qhilla (Quechua for “do not steal, do not lie, do not be lazy”). Every islander shares the responsibilities and the rewards. For most of the residents, spinning yarn and weaving intricate patterns thousands of years old are as important to everyday life as farming and cooking – with most of the knitting being done by the men!

Next we venture to the floating islands of the Uros. The floating islands, home to the pre-Inkan Uros tribe, are manmade reed islands constructed totally from the totora reeds. These special reeds provide home, sustenance and transportation for their residents. Here, guided by the Uros, we sail on their reed boats - taking time to bask in our divineness and dream our sacred lives into existence.

According to legends, the Uros ‘existed before the sun, when the earth was still dark and cold. They were impervious to drowning or being struck by lightning. They lost their status as super beings when they disobeyed universal order and mixed with humans, making them susceptible to contempt. They scattered, losing their identity, language and customs. They became the Uro-Aymaras, and now speak Aymara. Because of their simple and precarious lifestyle, the Inkas thought them worth little and accordingly taxed them very little. Yet the Uros, with their basic reed homes out lasted the mighty Inkas with their huge stone temples and mountaintop enclaves’.

TINAJANI CANYON & PUKARA

This morning our inner light rouses us out of our slumber. It becomes stronger each day as our connection with Father Sun, the Apus (mountains) and other living spirits of the Andes deepens. Today we venture to Tinajani Canyon and Pukará to meet additional spirits important to the Inkan culture.

Marked by powerful ley lines, Tinajani Canyon is a unique and majestic canyon featuring enormous red rock formations scattered among traditional alpaca farms. The meaning of Tinajani is the result of the word ‘Tinaja’ which means vessel and the plural Quechua word ‘ni’. So, the canyon would be an enclosure of stone ‘pitchers’ through which runs the water that hundreds of years ago covered this entire area. It is a product of the geomorphological changes suffered by the planet where a million years ago there would have been large glaciers with the presence of volcanic activity. Exposure to the elements such as wind, hail, snow and rain has sculpted these volcanic rocks into awe-inspiring and dominating shapes of the ‘stone’ people. This imposing place also presents pre-Columbian chullpas, puya forests and an amphitheater. As we play among the ‘stone’ people, we receive messages to help us understand our world.

Pukará – a pre-Inka archaeological site on the northwest shore of Lake Titicaca – is known as the first civilized Andean culture dating from 500 BC – AD 200. It provides valuable insight into the origins of the Andean highland civilization. Among its impressive monolithic sculptures sits a sunken temple where we connect with the Womb of the Mother and give our offerings to Mother Earth.

Monday, August 31
CHUCUITO to JULIACA to CUSCO

In the morning, we transfer to the Juliaca airport to catch our flight to Cusco to continue our exploration of the ‘Inkan’ Peru. The Inkas considered Cusco the Naval of the Universe and Center of the Inkan Empire! What a powerful place to resume our journey and bathe ourselves in the Cosmic wisdom of Peru! Our hearts open wide allowing our soul to prepare for our next steps.

At the Cusco airport, we are greeted and transferred to our ‘home away from home’ nestled in the Sacred Valley near Urubamba. We shed our travel dust as we get settled and relax into this equally amazing, peaceful and POWERFUL sanctuary.

We conclude our day with gratitude and focus our attention on our intentions. Take careful note of the dreams that come your way! Amp up all your senses here! Perhaps an elder or Wisdom Keeper will visit and bestow upon you some ancient wisdom! You don’t want to miss anything!

Tuesday, September 1
PALCOYO RAINBOW MOUNTAIN & INKAN ROPE BRIDGE

We are really getting off the beaten path today as we take a scenic drive to a relatively new site in the Rainbow Mountain Range called the ‘Cordillera Arco Iris’ where we can see three of the mountains that are colored with the seven colors of the rainbow. The color is due to the unprecedented coloring in the sediments of this part of the high Andes. For spectacular views of the range, we can take a short, easy hike (about 30-45 minutes and ~ 300 feet in elevation) up Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain. Here, the Vilcanote Mountain range stretches out in front of us with a breath-taking view of the snow-capped sacred Ausangate mountain!

In addition, we pass a forest of stones comprised of rocky ‘stone’ peaks formed naturally by the rain and wind. The rock forest with its huge rocky peaks resembles a geological labyrinth.

Either on our way to or from Palcoyo, we stop at Checacupe to see the last remaining Inka Rope Suspension Bridge. Rope bridges were an important part of the Inkan road system and an excellent example of Inkan innovation and engineering. These were frequently used by Chasqui (Inka runners or messengers) to deliver messages throughout the Inka territory.

Overnight in Urubamba at the Taypikala Hotel (B, L)

Wednesday, September 2
TIPON & PISAC

After a peaceful sleep, we awaken to the beckoning call of the sacred Urubamba River cascading through the valley. As the mountains surrounding us expose themselves to the morning sun, we begin our own awakening process allowing our bodies to synch up with the rhythm of Pacha Mama. Surrounded by beauty and peace, we feel alive and rejuvenated and ready to begin our journey through the Sacred Valley to Pisac and Tipon.

Pisac, as well as the ancient city of Ollantaytambo, were vital agricultural, economic, military, spiritual and political centers for the Inka. we wander through the infamous Pisac Mercado de Treque (local’s trade market) where the ancient meets the contemporary world. Here we see the locals trade vegetables, herbs and potatoes for other goods like matches, oranges and medicines and are transported back in time to when the Inkan ancestors in the highlands depended on trade.

This market is also an artesian market where we practice haggling for Peruvian goods such as woven blankets, silver jewelry, alpaca sweaters, musical instruments, artwork and other goods.

After exploring Pisac market and finding lunch on your own, we continue to Tipon. According to legends, Tipon is one of the royal gardens that Wiracocha ordered to be built. It also may have been a park for upper class or an agricultural center. It is one of the most elaborate examples of agricultural terracing created by the Inkas. These tall terraces, which run up the narrow valley, are irrigated by an aqueduct from Pachatusan, the mountain above the site. In addition to the terracing there are also some other structures at Tipon, including baths, a temple complex, canals and aqueducts. Still today, water is rushing though the channels and the wide terraces, masterpieces of mortar-less walls, are in perfect condition.

It is here that we connect to the element of Water – one of the alive elements. We take part in a cleansing ceremony to clean our different bodies and chakras. We will listen to Water and talk to her, thanking her for her service and wisdom.

Overnight in Urubamba at the Taypikala Hotel (B, D)

Thursday, September 3
URUBAMBA to MACHU PICCHU

Early this morning, we catch a scenic train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes to continue our pilgrimage to the famous ‘Crystal City’ of the Inkas - Machu Picchu! The town of Ollantaytambo is strategically built on a mountainside that dominates three valleys, which merge at this point. The town appears to have been master planned – evidenced by the architectural style and layout of its streets and squares, the design of its water and sewage systems and the use of massive polyhedral stones and trapezoidal doorways each cut perfectly to fit and withstand any natural disaster.

Overlooking Ollantaytambo is Viracocha – the great creator god in Inkan mythology. According to legend, Viracocha rose from the darkness to bring forth light and breathed life into stones to make mankind. As we load our train, he blesses our ride through the valley!

We arrive mid-morning and after settling into our hotel and enjoying a nutritious lunch, we board the bus that snakes up the mountain to Machu Picchu – the citadel in the sky.

Our timing is perfect as the morning crowds are dissipating leaving us to fully embody the sacredness of this Seven Wonder of the World. With great anticipation, we ask permission of the guardians of Machu Picchu – the Puma, Condor and Light of Spirits – to enter the sacred city. We ask to expand our spirits with the qualities of the Father and the Mother – Munay (love), Llancay (service), and Yachay (wisdom).

Upon entering this Wonder of the World, we sense the vibrant community, which by embodying these qualities, could thrive high above the river valley below. Soon we know, without a doubt, why it is included in this prestigious list of world wonders!

After a special heart awakening entrance, we explore the Seven Places of Power and intertwine meditation and ceremonies to connect us fully to the energetic power of Machu Picchu. Every invocation made at Machu Picchu is amplified to incalculable proportions due to the stone complex's high voltage magnetic focal point. So, be sure and express fully your intentions!

Overnight in Aguas Calientes at the Taypikala Machu Picchu Hotel. (B, L)

Friday, September 4
MACHU PICCHU to URUBAMBA

Before sunrise, we return to ‘the Lost City of the Inkas’ for a spectacular ceremonial meeting with Father Sun as he rises above the mountaintop and greets us with his brilliant light. We participate in a special sunrise celebration and receive the first light into our hearts; merging our energies with this sacred site and deepening our understanding of who we are as Children of the Sun.

Enjoy the rest of the day following your intuition and exploring at your own pace. You may want to climb the sacred peak of Wayna Picchu, hike to the Temple of the Moon, walk to the Sun Gate or Inka Bridge or further explore the Royal Tomb, the Funerary Rock, the Sacred Plaza, the Condor Temple or the Inihuatana Stone.

Later, we return to Aguas Calientes and catch our train and bus back to Urubamba taking time to reflect on the great wonders that just blessed our life.

Overnight in Urubamba at the Taypikala Hotel (B, D)

Saturday, September 5
URUBAMBA to CUSCO to LIMA

This is another day in paradise as we awaken to all the sensations of Mother Earth. She beckons us to surrender back to our true nature for ‘nature is our nature’! She calls our souls to the purifying essence of the natural elements present in our sanctuary – water, fire, earth and air. We connect and play with these elements, returning to our child-like nature of joy, love and freedom.

Take your time to pack and say your personal goodbyes to this sacred place that has reawakened you to life in its purest natural form! Later, we close our sacred journey with ceremony and a special lunch before traveling to Cusco airport to catch our flight to Lima where we connect with our international flights home.

She left her MBA degree and successful twenty-five year leadership career in advanced technology and education to discover the world from a new perspective — her own intuitive awareness. Courageously following an inner call, she spent 6 months traveling solo in Peru where she was invited into ritual with the Q’ero, Shipibo and medicine men/women. There she spent time studying with indigenous shamans, curanderas, spiritual guides and mystics. Her life was changed forever. . .

During her first trip to South America, Junia participated in the Merrayabo Tsintikash Jiwiki Bewakani Ritual Ceremony - a ritual to heal the master plants of the world - conducted by Shipibo-Conibo shamans. The shamans bestowed upon her, her Shipibo name "Inin Beka" which means 'sweet smelling protective cloth.' Since that moment, she opened to the calling and has become a master of holding sacred space so others can journey within; safely and fully protected.

And now she has merged her love of adventure and her natural leadership into a unique travel experience called, Divine Adventures.
